Wink by Michael Channing

Wink

by Michael Channing

far greater than any sunset i've ever seen
or any ocean i've ever challenged
are the soft weapons of her eyes
she would never move them in malice
there is no danger in her gaze
but what you bring

still
every evening
on the shore
waves rise and roll
and pound the beach
wishing they could conquer
what she lays to waste
with a wink
