My River, My Woman

my river is a woman
as beautiful and fearsome as any i've known
skin of liquid silk
soul of brilliant stone
my woman is a river
she roars and harbors snakes
she gathers green and sings
to soothe my evening aches
i place my prayers upon this surface
sink my troubles deep
bend into her body's curves
and with the river sleep
