You Won't Come

Michael Channing

there's a young girl in a corner bar
drinking to keep herself warm
for a soft bed and sweet word
she'll let you take her home

but wait until she has walls of her own
you won't come inside
when the bed is finally her own
you won't come inside

she loves the road and her bag is packed
as she waits inside your car
but what you don't know is she won't
be traveling far

just wait until she has wheels of her own
you won't come along
when the road finally leads home
you won't come along

when she has no need for charity
that always comes with a price
when the suitcase is empty and her belly is full
you won't come inside

You Won't Come
